Oman has enjoyed a recent surge in popularity. Due to this new influx of travelers, Omani tourist officials have decided to introduce an Omani online visa system that will allow people from all over the world, including Vietnam, the opportunity to receive permission to enter into Oman.
The new system eliminates the need for Vietnamese travelers to visit an Omani embassy or consulate or send important documents through the mail. This new electronic platform enables Vietnamese nationals to receive their eVisa without leaving their home.
What Visa Do I Need to Visit Oman From Vietnam?
The only countries in the world that do not require a visa to visit Oman are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). All other travelers, including Vietnamese passport holders, will be required to apply for and receive an Omani eVisa before arriving in Oman.
Depending on how long they wish to stay in Oman, Vietnamese nationals have a few options to choose from when selecting which Omani tourist visa to apply for:
- A single-entry tourist visa that will remain valid for up to 30 days*
- A multi-entry tourist visa that will allow Vietnamese passport holders to enter Oman on more than one occasion and stays of up to 30 days. This visa is valid for one year*
- If Vietnamese citizens hold a valid residence permit to any GCC country (Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UEA, Kuwait) then they are eligible to apply for a single-entry visa valid for 28 days.
This type of online visa to Oman can only be obtained by Vietnamese citizens who hold a valid residence permit or visa from a Schengen country, the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, or Japan. If they fail to demonstrate they have this travel permit, they will not be eligible.
What Documents Do Citizens of Vietnam Need to Get an Omani e-Visa?
There are a number of documents that each and every Vietnamese citizen is required to provide no matter which eVisa for Oman they are applying for. These items and conditions are known as Omani’s eVisa entry requirements.
First and foremost, every Vietnamese national must have a passport with a minimum of six months of validity remaining from the intended date of entry into Oman.
Each applicant for an Omani eVisa must also provide a recent passport photo. The photo must be digitally uploaded, however, it can be uploaded after the application has been submitted.
In addition, Vietnamese nationals must upload a digital copy of the passport information page.
Alongside the above information, Vietnamese travelers will be required to provide a current email address. All correspondence, including the issuing of the Omani eVisa, will be carried out through email.
Each applicant will also be required to pay a non-refundable visa application fee. The fee must be paid via a valid debit or credit card.
Once the Omani eVisa application has been submitted, applicants from Vietnam will receive an email with further instructions, including how to upload any necessary supporting documents or photographs, if applicable.
Personal and travel information required from Vietnamese travelers in the Omani eVisa form
The Omani eVisa application process is straightforward and easy to fill out. It is important, however, that travelers from Vietnam take their time and ensure that the provided information is correct. Each applicant must provide the following information:
- First and last name as it appears in the passport
- Date and place of birth
- Current address
- Passport number
- Passport date of issue and expiration
Passengers from Vietnam may also encounter questions regarding security issues and their health status, including possible inquiries about the necessary vaccinations to enter Oman.
Processing Time for an Omani eVisa From Vietnam
Following the submission of a completed Omani online visa application, Vietnamese citizens can expect a turnaround time of as little as 24 hours before they receive their response. However, it is recommended that travelers apply with plenty of time to avoid any unforeseen delays.
Once the eVisa for Oman has been issued, it is important that nationals of Vietnam print out a hard copy of the following documents and carry them to their Omani port of entry as border officials will ask to see them alongside their passport:
- A copy of the approved Omani eVisa. Border officials will want to protect against fraud by ensuring that their information matches one of the travelers
- Proof of hotel reservation for the entire duration of their stay in Oman
- Proof of onward travel from Oman. It is important that the date of travel is before their eVisa is set to expire. Onward travel can be back to Vietnam or to any other country outside of Oman

Traveling From Vietnam to Oman
The two countries of Vietnam and Oman are not particularly well connected. Most flights departing Vietnam will require a connecting flight and a layover before reaching Oman.
Arrivals into Oman will, for the most part, be into Muscat Airport, which is the capital city’s transportation hub and the largest airport in the country.
The airport lies roughly 32 kilometers away from the city.
